This short Hertfordshire walk explores Watford's Cassiobury Park along with a section the Grand Union Canal. Cassiobury Park is the largest public open space in Watford comprising of over 190 acres of green space stretching from Watford town centre to woodland and countryside to the west of the town.
How to get there
The car park is signposted from the centre of town and Rickmansworth Road with brown tourist information signs.
Walk
1 From the car park, head on the path heading north-west. Turn right upon reaching the edge of the river. Do not cross the river, but instead continue with it on your left to reach the Watford Minature Railway. Continue ahead to cross the River Gade and then the path will continue on to cross over the Grand Union Canal.
2 Turn left to reach the canal towpath, and continue to walk to the south.
3 When you reach the next bridge, cross the canal by heading left and follow the path heading east. When you reach the first junction, take the path to your left to head back along the river and to the car park at the start of the walk.
