The Walk

Combine valley walking with a climb into woodland.

Map with thanks to Ordnance Survey.

Walk

1 From Levisham Station, turn left to go over the level crossing, then follow the track ahead and round to the right. The track will become a tarmac lane.

2 Turn right onto a narrow track heading into woodland (waymarked as 'Levisham Station Walk'), just before you reach a right-hand bend in the road. Cross over a wooden bridge then follow the woodland path. Pass through a gate into the field before Kale Pot Hole Farm. When you reach the far side, turn left in front of the metal gate, then leave the field through a wooden gate. Turn right and follow the track.

3 Continue straight ahead when a bridleway turns left. When you reach the track junction, turn left uphill. Carry on straight ahead, up the track to reach an open area.

4 At the hairpin left bend, turn right to head uphill on the tarmac road. When you reach the next bend, turn left to follow the path into the woodland. Follow the path around the head of a small valley and go on uphill, then straight through the forest. Turn left when you reach the stone track.

5 Before you reach the hairpin bend, turn left onto the grass bridleway. Follow the path as it heads downhill. Turn right at a grass track, then continue downhill. Pass a barrier, then turn right onto Hardigate Road, returning on the path to Levisham Station.
