The Walk

A walk set within the grounds of Cragside.

Walk

1 Begin the walk at the visitor centre. When facing Tumbleton Lake, take the estate drive right uphill. Continue on this drive toward Tumbleton Cottage.

2 Shortly after the cottages, take a left off the estate drive onto a gravel track which follows the curve of the lakeside. Remain on this path to cross over Debdon Bridge.

3 Take the boardwalk to complete the circuit of the lake. Tumbleton Boathouse will appear on your left. You can opt here to return to the visitor centre and start point of the walk, or progress onward to Step 4.

4 Take a right onto the steps which lead toward the Pump House. Then, follow the path which crosses the Debdon stream.

5 Continue heading straight on until you see the flight of stone steps on the left hand side to gain access across the iron bridge.

6 When you reach the other end of the bridge take the steps underneath the bridge. Then follow the path through the collection of conifers. The path will fork after the wooden bridge, turn right.

7 Turn right to cross over the ivy bridge and continue along the path. Remain on this path until the waterwheel appears in view. To the right the path continues to the power house. Return the way you came to head back towards the visitor centre.
