Dog Considerations:
- Leads: Nidd Gorge is a popular spot for dog walkers, with many areas suitable for off-lead exercise if dogs are well-behaved and have good recall. However, keep dogs on leads near steep drops, on narrow paths when passing others, and be mindful of wildlife (deer, birds).
- Water: The River Nidd flows through the gorge, providing opportunities for dogs to paddle and drink, but always assess water quality and currents.
- Wildlife: Rich in woodland birds, deer, and other small mammals. Ensure dogs do not chase or disturb wildlife.
- Dog Bins: May be available at the main Bilberry car park. Limited or absent deeper in the woods. Please be prepared to take dog waste home.
- Hazards: Steep, unguarded drops from paths along the gorge edge. Slippery rocks and tree roots. The river can be fast-flowing in places.
