Postcode:

Parking:

EXTREMELY limited & potentially dangerous lay-by parking on A537 Cat & Fiddle road. Cat & Fiddle Inn for patrons only. Safer to park at Derbyshire Bridge (Goyt Valley) for longer approach.

Distance:
7.30 miles
Time:
3.20 hours
Difficulty:
Challenging
Terrain:

Terrain: High, exposed Peak District moorland. The main path from near the Cat & Fiddle to Shining Tor summit is generally well-defined and largely stone-slabbed for significant sections to prevent erosion and crossing boggy ground, but it is still uneven underfoot. Other approach paths can be very grassy, heathery, extremely boggy, and indistinct. Steep ascents/descents are involved, especially on approaches from the Goyt Valley or Lamaload. The summit plateau is broad and can be boggy.
