Circular walk
Starting at West Meon, this walk follows the Meon Valley Trail, before diverting up towards the Old Winchester Hill and Iron Age Hill Fort. Downloadable map available here.
Useful Information
How to get there: From Petersfield, follow the A272 towards Winchester. Join the A32 and head south into West Meon. After entering West Meon, take the second road on your left (station road), the car park is just before the railway bridge.

The Walk
A long walk offering some spectacular views of the surrounding countryside.

Walk
1 From the car park head south following the trail.
2 After about 2 miles (3.2 km), you have the opportunity of leaving the trail and following the south downs way up towards Old Winchester Hill.
3 After 1 km (1.3 miles) follow the path to the left. The path decends along the field boundy and eventually joins a track used by farm vehicles.
4 Keep following the public right of way, you eventually pass farm buildings of Peake Farm. Cross the road and keep following the path as it meanders back towards point 5.
5 Turn left onto Hayden Lane. Cross over the old railway bridge that takes you over the Meon Valley Trail and follow the path on the right immediately afterwards that leads back onto the trial and back towards the car park.
