Terrain: Mostly flat and well-maintained tarmac paths throughout much of the park, making it highly accessible for pushchairs, wheelchairs, and all abilities. Large open grassy areas are also generally flat but can be uneven in places and muddy after rain. Gentle slopes leading down to the brook and lake.

Dog Considerations:
- Leads: Abbey Fields is extremely popular with dog walkers. Off-lead exercise is common and generally accepted in the large open grassy areas, provided dogs are well-behaved, under control, and responsive to recall. Dogs should be on leads near the children's play areas, around the immediate perimeter of the lake (to protect waterfowl and for safety), near any organised events, and in busier sections.
- Water: Finham Brook flows through the park, and there is a substantial lake. Dogs often paddle in the shallower parts of the brook. Assess water quality. It's always good practice to carry fresh water.
- Wildlife: The lake is home to ducks, swans, geese, moorhens, and coots. Squirrels are common in the trees. Ensure dogs do not chase or disturb wildlife.
- Dog Bins: Plentifully available throughout Abbey Fields, especially along main paths and near entrances/exits.
- Hazards: The lake and brook (supervise dogs near water). The park can be very busy with families, other dogs, and cyclists on shared paths.
