Terrain: A delightful and varied circular walk featuring well-maintained, relatively flat paths alongside the River Otter, some quiet country lanes, and potentially some grassy field paths. The riverside paths are generally firm (gravel/earth), but can become muddy and prone to puddles after heavy rain. The lanes are usually tarmac. Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes or boots are recommended, and waterproof footwear is advisable in wetter conditions.
Accessibility: The majority of the riverside path is relatively flat and wide, making it fairly accessible. However, sections on country lanes involve shared use with vehicles, and some field paths may be uneven or muddy, making them less suitable for those with significant mobility issues or standard pushchairs.

Dog-Friendliness: This is a fantastic and very dog-friendly walk, offering a wonderful blend of riverside beauty, charming village scenery, and open countryside! Dogs are welcome throughout much of the route. Dogs should be kept on a lead in Otterton village, around Otterton Mill, whenever livestock are present in fields, and whenever near sensitive wildlife areas along the river. Well-behaved dogs with excellent recall can enjoy some off-lead time in quieter, open sections of the riverside path away from other users and wildlife, but vigilance is key.
