Dog Considerations:

  • Leads: The Pitfour Estate grounds (where the lake is) and Aden Country Park are generally very dog-friendly. Off-lead exercise is common in many areas, provided dogs are kept under good control, responsive to recall, and do not disturb wildlife (especially waterfowl on the lake or in Aden's ponds), other visitors, or any livestock if present on wider estate farmland (less common near the lake itself). Be mindful of any specific signage within Aden Country Park or on estate land.
  • Water: Pitfour Lake and other water bodies in Aden Country Park offer opportunities for dogs to paddle. Assess water quality. Carry fresh water too.
  • Wildlife: Waterfowl, red squirrels, roe deer, and various woodland birds are common. Ensure dogs do not chase or harass wildlife.
  • Dog Bins: Usually well-provided within Aden Country Park, especially near the main visitor centre, car parks, and popular areas. May be less frequent on more remote paths around Pitfour Lake itself if solely on estate land.
  • Hazards: Lake (deep water in places). Uneven paths, tree roots. Aden Country Park can be busy. Some parts of the Pitfour Estate are private residential or farming areas – stick to clear paths and rights of way.
