A circular dog walk starting from Breakwater Country Park, Holyhead, Anglesey. Breakwater Country Park is a coastal park in a former rock quarry featuring scenic trails.
How to get there
From the A55, head into and through Holyhead. Take the A5154, then Porth-Y-Felin Road, turn right onto Beach Road, then the next immediate right passing a stone sign pointing to Breakwater Country Park.
Walk
1 From Breakwater Country Park, exit the car park by taking the path past the lake. Join onto a track and then head through a kissing gate into a field which goes toward Holyhead Mountain. Follow a path toward North Stack. When leaving North Stack, follow the path up the hill, take a right at the telegraph pole, then follow on up to the left, taking a steeper section. You will then begin a descent, where you will have sight of South Stack. Take a path off the left to the summit of the mountain. When the path levels out, follow it down to the headland. Upon reaching South Stack, turn left to head down the road.
2 Take a left to follow a path running parallel to the previous one. When you start to get closer to the mountain, take a right to follow around the base. When you reach the crossroads in the paths, head straight across. You will reach a lane, follow on to the left by some houses. At a T-Junction, turn left and follow the lane to the end. A path then bears left, then right, following a fenced path. Walk down some steps to find yourself back at the Country Park.
