Terrain: A tranquil and primarily woodland walk. Lady's Wood features natural earth paths and compacted tracks, often covered with leaf litter. The terrain is generally flat with very gentle undulations, making it a relatively easy stroll through the trees. Expect paths to be muddy and potentially boggy in places, especially after rain or during wetter seasons. Sturdy, comfortable, waterproof walking shoes or boots are highly recommended.
Accessibility: Due to the natural, unpaved surfaces, potential for mud, and narrower paths, Lady's Wood is generally not suitable for those with significant mobility issues or pushchairs beyond the very immediate entrance points.

Dog-Friendliness: Lady's Wood offers a lovely, peaceful, and very dog-friendly woodland walk! Dogs are welcome throughout much of the wood, providing ample opportunity for both on-lead strolling and responsible off-lead exploration. Dogs will love the rich woodland scents and the joy of weaving through the trees. However, it is crucial to be highly mindful of other visitors and sensitive wildlife. Always ensure your dog is under control and has excellent recall.
Important Considerations for Your Walk
-
Mud: Be prepared for mud! As a natural woodland, paths can get very wet and slippery after rain.
-
Water for Dogs: Bring plenty of fresh water for your dog, especially on warmer days, as there are no public water facilities within the wood.
-
Dog Waste: Please be a responsible dog owner and always clean up after your dog. As there are usually no bins in smaller woodlands, be prepared to take all waste home with you. Do not leave bags in the wood.
-
Shared Use: You might encounter other walkers, dog walkers, and local residents. Be courteous and share the paths respectfully.
-
Residential Edges: The wood is surrounded by residential areas. Be mindful of this when entering/exiting and keep dogs on a lead on roads.
-
Ticks: As with any woodland, ticks can be present, especially in taller grass or leaf litter. Check your dog thoroughly after the walk.
