The walk is a tale of two halves. The section over Carn Brea involves steep climbs and descents on uneven, rocky paths that can be slippery when wet. The southern section along the Great Flat Lode is mostly wide, compacted gravel tracks and old tramways, which are generally flat and well-surfaced. Sturdy walking boots are highly recommended.
