This walk features a real mix of terrain. The woodland paths near the river and through Danescombe can be uneven, rooty, and very muddy/slippery after wet weather or in the winter months. The middle section utilizes paved country lanes and farm tracks. The climb up to Metherell and the drop into Danescombe will get your heart rate up. Sturdy walking boots are highly recommended.

Woodlands & Streams: The sections through Comfort Wood, around the mill stream, and down through Danescombe are fantastic, shaded environments with plenty of sniffs and paddling opportunities.

National Trust Rules: Dogs are very welcome across the wider Cotehele estate and woodlands. However, they must be kept on leads, and they are generally not permitted inside the formal gardens or the house itself.
