Walking on Bodmin Moor is not like walking a coastal path. The ground is notoriously uneven, covered in thick moor grass, and heavily waterlogged (even in summer). Paths marked on the map may be completely invisible on the ground. High-quality, waterproof hiking boots are non-negotiable. You should also always carry a physical map and compass (and know how to use them), as hill fog can roll in very quickly and disorientate even experienced walkers.
