- Dog Notes:
The fells and countryside around Stanhope offer excellent walking for energetic dogs. However, this is prime sheep farming country, and there are also ground-nesting birds on the moors (like curlew and lapwing). Dogs MUST be kept on leads or under very close and reliable control at all times when livestock are present or during bird nesting season (April-July). Be mindful of old mine workings (unfenced shafts can be a hazard). Please clean up after your dog. Pubs in Stanhope are often dog-friendly. This walk needs responsible dog handling.
