Terrain: Challenging hill and moorland fringe terrain. Paths leading from Hayfield towards Lantern Pike involve steady, sometimes steep, ascents through fields (grassy, muddy, stiles) and onto more open, heathery ground. The summit area of Lantern Pike is grassy and can be boggy. Descent paths can also be steep and uneven. Good sturdy footwear is essential.
