There's a choice of four trails to explore at Brandon Country Park, from the easy 0.9-mile Redwood Trail (Red Walk) to the 6.2-mile Firecrest Trail (Orange Walk). Here, though, we follow the mid-range Forest and Heath Train (Purple Walk). You will walk into a working forest, on a circular route through the arboretum and into the deeper Thetford Forest with acres of evergreen Scots pine plantation.

Off the A1065, take the B1106 south from Brandon to Brandon Country Park.
