Terrain: The main path around Greenbooth Reservoir is generally a well-maintained, wide track with a compacted stone/gravel surface, suitable for walkers of most abilities, though with some moderate inclines and descents as it contours the steep-sided valley. Paths around the Naden Reservoirs and onto the moorland are earthier, grassier, can be very boggy, uneven, and involve steeper, more challenging climbs. The area is exposed Pennine fringe moorland.

Dog Considerations:
- Leads: Greenbooth Valley is popular for walking. On the main track around Greenbooth Reservoir, especially when busy or when passing anglers, keeping dogs on leads or under very close control is advisable. On the higher, more remote moorland paths around the Naden Reservoirs or onto open moorland, off-lead exercise may be possible for dogs with excellent recall, but **sheep graze freely across all surrounding moorland – dogs MUST be on leads immediately if sheep are present.** Ground-nesting birds are also prevalent (April-July).
- Water: The reservoirs themselves and numerous feeder streams. Assess water quality (reservoirs are for supply, so direct swimming discouraged). Peaty moorland water. Carry fresh water, especially for longer/higher routes.
- Wildlife & Livestock: Sheep are ubiquitous on the moorland. Upland birds (curlew, skylark, grouse). Waterfowl on reservoirs. Ensure dogs do not chase or worry any animals.
- Dog Bins: May be available at the Greenbooth car park. Very unlikely on the wider reservoir paths or moorland. You **MUST** take all dog waste home.
- Hazards: Sheep! Steep slopes around reservoirs and on moorland paths. Very boggy ground (especially around Naden Reservoirs and on higher moor). Deep water in reservoirs. Sudden weather changes (mist, wind, rain are common on these exposed hills). Ticks.
- Stamina: Moorland routes require fit dogs.
