Walk

1 From the car park, head through the wooden gate and uphill on the path. At the fork in the path, head to the left, the straight on at the next path crossing and up the steps. You will reach Maiden Castle hillfort. Once you have finished at the viewpoint, continue on a path through the heather. Head through a wooden gate and head immediately right on a path beneath the trees. Upon reaching the edge of a slope, follow it around to the left.

2 Take a sharp right, heading downhill. When the path rejoins the Sandstone Trail at the foot of the slope, head right to follow the path up above the National Trust's Duckington car park. Turn right, going uphill. Pass through the gate at the top of the slope, then continue uphill. At the Sandstone Trail post, turn left and climb the short slope to reach Cuckoo Rock. At the top here, turn right to follow the path as it heads gently downhill. As the path forks, continue straight ahead. Turn right when you reach the T-junction, then follow the waymarked path down to a gate. Passing by a field and a house, the track will emerge onto the tarmaced Sandy Lane. Shortly after this, turn right and the almost immediately left into Lower Sandy Lane.

3 When at the junction with Brown Knowl Lane, head right and downhill towards Brown Knowl Methodist Church. From here, head back along the path towards the car park and start point of the walk.
