Mam Tor is a popular upland walk in the Peak District, following a clear stone-surfaced path up to one of the area’s best-known viewpoints. From the summit, there are wide views across the Hope Valley and surrounding hills, and the route has the open ridge feel that makes this part of the national park so distinctive.
This is a hill walk rather than a flat stroll, with uneven ground, steps and stiles along the way. The route is commonly done as a circular walk and passes through an exposed moorland and ridge landscape, so conditions can feel quite different in poor weather. Dogs are currently noted as needing to stay on lead throughout.
A cafe is noted nearby if you want to plan refreshments around your visit. Livestock or grazing animals may be present in parts of the area, so please keep dogs under close control and follow local signs.
