Paths are a mix of wide, well-maintained tarmac and compacted gravel, particularly around Airthrey Loch, and more natural earth paths through Hermitage Woods. Expect some moderate inclines and declines when exploring the higher woodland sections. Paths can be muddy and prone to puddles, especially after rain or in wetter seasons. Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are recommended, and waterproof footwear is advisable.
Accessibility: The main paths around Airthrey Loch are generally wide, flat, and well-surfaced, offering good accessibility for pushchairs and many wheelchairs.
