Dog Notes:
  • Off-Lead: Dogs are welcome and can be exercised off-lead in many areas of the park. However, due to the presence of free-roaming livestock (cattle and ponies) and abundant wildlife (deer, birds), it is crucial that dogs are kept under effective control at all times. You must put your dog on a lead when near livestock. Pay close attention to signage, especially during bird nesting season (typically March to August) or in sensitive heathland areas.
  • Livestock Awareness: Be prepared to encounter ponies and cattle anywhere in the park. Ensure your dog does not chase or worry them.
  • Water: The park has several pools (Blackroot Pool, Bracebridge Pool, Keepers Pool, Powell's Pool, Longmoor Pool, Little Bracebridge Pool, Wyndley Pool). While some dogs enjoy a paddle, be aware of water quality (algae blooms can be an issue in summer) and ensure they don't disturb wildlife.
  • Bins: Dog waste bins are provided, particularly near car parks and popular areas. However, with such a large park, it's always wise to carry spare bags and be prepared to take your litter home if a bin isn't immediately available.
  • Stick & Ball: Plenty of open spaces for games, but always be mindful of other park users and wildlife.
