Parking:

There is a National Trust car park at Cock Marsh, usually accessed via Cookham. This is a paid car park (Pay & Display, or free for National Trust members). It can get busy, especially on weekends and sunny days, so arriving earlier is recommended. Alternatively, some limited on-street parking may be available in Cookham village, but be mindful of residents and local restrictions.

Distance:
3.60 miles
Time:
1.50 hours
Difficulty:
Moderate
Terrain:

The terrain is largely flat, primarily consisting of riverside meadows and open chalk grassland. Paths are a mix of mown grass tracks, natural earth paths, and some gravel sections. It's important to note that as part of a flood plain, the area can become very muddy, wet, and potentially flooded, especially after heavy rain or during prolonged wet periods (particularly in winter). Sturdy, comfortable, and waterproof walking boots are essential due to these conditions.

Accessibility: Due to the often muddy, uneven, and potentially flooded paths, Cock Marsh is generally not suitable for those with significant mobility issues or pushchairs beyond the very immediate entrance points.
