A circular dog friendly walk on Hambleton Peninsula, Rutland Water. Rutland Water is famous for the number and variety of birds that spend the winter here. The route follows the shore of the lake and through Armley Wood.

How to get there: From the A6003 roundabout east of Oakham, follow the A606. In half a mile, turn right to reach Upper Hambleton.

The Walk
A walk around the Hambleton Peninsula, on the shore of Rutland Water.

Walk
1 From the Finch's Arms, head left along the street. After 150 metres, turn left down toward the shore of the lake.
2 Turn right to follow the shared-access trail, to head in a clockwise direction, around the peninsula. The track is shared with cyclists, so pay particular attention as you are walking along it.
3 After around 4.5 miles, pass the driveway to Old Hall, then follow the path back toward Upper Hambleton.
