How to get there
From Ashton-under-Lyne bypass (A635) take A627 north towards Oldham for approx 1 mile to Newmarket Road (traffic lights). Turn left and follow Newmarket Road for 3/4 mile to junction at sharp left bend. Turn right at bend. Entrance to car park and visitor centre is on the right after 50 metres.
Walk
1 From the car park, head north on the path, passing by a pond, before taking a left and passing by another body of water to your right.
2 Follow the path as it rounds to the right. Continue on the path as it heads through the woodland. Follow the path all the way alongside the Manchester and Ashton-under-Lyne Canal, until it almost reaches the road (the A627).
3 Turn to your left to continue on the opposite side of the canal.
4 Take a left and head south to cross over a bridge on the River Medlock. Continue on the path through the woodland.
5 When you reach this point, turn left to head on back down to the car park and walk start point.
