Terrain: A large, well-established urban park with varied terrain. Main paths through the park are generally wide, tarmac-surfaced, and relatively accessible for pushchairs and wheelchairs, though the park is set on a hillside sloping down to the River Goyt, so expect some significant slopes and gradients. There are extensive open grassy areas, mature woodland trails (earthier, can be rooty, uneven, and muddy after rain), and some formal garden or memorial areas.

Dog Considerations:
- Leads: Woodbank Park is a very popular and busy park, especially with families and for sports. While there are woodland areas and some open grassy slopes where off-lead exercise *might* be possible for very well-behaved dogs with excellent recall if the park is quiet, dogs **should generally be on leads** on all main busy paths, in any formal garden or memorial areas, near children's play areas, sports facilities when in use (athletics track, etc.), and where signage indicates. Always be highly considerate of other park users. The adjacent Vernon Park has similar considerations.
- Water: The River Goyt flows along the lower boundary of the park, offering paddling opportunities (assess water quality, currents, and safe access points, as banks can be steep or eroded). Carry fresh water.
- Wildlife: Squirrels, urban birds, potentially kingfishers or dippers along the River Goyt.
- Dog Bins: Usually plentifully available throughout the park, especially along main paths and near entrances/facilities.
- Hazards: Steep slopes in many parts of the park. The River Goyt (can be fast-flowing). Can be very busy with people, children, and other dogs. Sports activities (athletics stadium). Proximity to busy roads around the park perimeter.
