Walk Highlights

Location:
Welwyn Garden City
Postcode:
AL6 9BE
Parking:

Parking: The walk starts and finishes at a free car park located just off Ayot St Peter Road, at the eastern end of the Ayot Greenway in Ayot Green. This is a dedicated car park but can get busy, especially on weekends and sunny days.

Distance:
4.10 miles
Time:
1.70 hours
Difficulty:
Easy
Terrain:

Terrain: A wonderfully varied and generally flat to gently undulating walk. You'll experience a mix of wide, well-maintained compacted gravel or tarmac paths (along the Ayot Greenway), natural earth paths through woodlands and meadows, and sections along quiet country lanes. Paths through fields and along riverbanks can become muddy and prone to puddles, especially after rain or in wetter seasons. Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes are recommended, and waterproof footwear is advisable for optimal comfort.

Accessibility: The Ayot Greenway section is generally highly accessible. However, other parts of this circular route, particularly those venturing into the Lea Valley or crossing fields, may be uneven, muddy, and could involve stiles or gates, making them less suitable for those with significant mobility issues or standard pushchairs for the full loop.
