The terrain is generally flat to gently undulating, with no significant climbs or descents, making it a relatively easy stroll through the trees. Expect paths to be very muddy and potentially boggy in places, especially after rain or during wetter seasons. Sturdy, comfortable, and waterproof walking boots are highly recommended.

Sherrardspark Wood in Hertfordshire is an excellent and very popular place for dog walking, with plenty of space and interesting scents for dogs to explore. Dogs can often be off-lead in many areas, but ensure they have good recall and are kept under control, as wildlife (including deer) is present and other walkers, cyclists (on permitted bridleways), or horse riders may use some of the paths.
