A scenic North Yorkshire walk combining woodland paths, panoramic moorland views, and the famous White Horse. Ideal for enjoying the longer days of early summer.

☀️ June's Walk of the Month

As summer arrives and the countryside is at its most vibrant, Sutton Bank offers some of the finest views in England. Combining woodland trails, open moorland scenery, and the famous White Horse viewpoint, this North York Moors walk is a fantastic choice for longer days and clear summer evenings.

Sutton Bank & White Horse Dog Walk

Few viewpoints in England are as famous as Sutton Bank. Perched on the western edge of the North York Moors National Park, this walk combines spectacular views with accessible woodland trails and open countryside.

Starting near the National Park Centre, the route follows well-maintained paths through mixed woodland before emerging onto open viewpoints overlooking the Vale of York. On clear days, visibility stretches for miles across the landscape.

The iconic White Horse of Kilburn provides a memorable focal point and makes an excellent stopping point for photographs.

June is one of the best times to visit. The woodland sections offer welcome shade on warmer days, while the open viewpoints benefit from long daylight hours and often excellent visibility.

For dogs, the route provides a varied walking experience with plenty of opportunities for sniffing, exploring, and taking in new scents. As with many National Park locations, livestock may occasionally be present in surrounding fields, so appropriate control is recommended.
