Win Hill is a classic Peak District hill walk with a steep climb and wide-reaching views from the summit. Set above the Upper Derwent Valley, this route looks out across the Dark Peak landscape, with Ladybower Reservoir and the surrounding hills adding to the sense of height and open scenery. The trig point at the top gives a clear focus for the walk and a good place to pause before heading back down.
This is best approached as an upland walk rather than a gentle stroll, with a demanding ascent and uneven ground likely in places. Stiles are present on the route, which may be awkward for some dogs. Livestock may be present too, so keep dogs under close control where needed and follow any local signage.
Off-lead walking is currently noted as generally permitted, but it is sensible to keep dogs close on exposed sections, near livestock and whenever other path users are around. No toilets, café, pub, poo bins or dog water point are currently noted here, so it is worth arriving prepared.
