- Terrain:
Terrain: A truly diverse and engaging landscape, combining ancient woodlands with expansive chalk downland. Paths are a mix of wide, well-maintained gravel tracks, natural earth paths (often covered with leaf litter in the woods), and grassy tracks across the open downs. Expect significant undulations, with some moderate to steep climbs and descents. The chalk paths can become very muddy and extremely slippery after rain, and even the dry chalk can be treacherous. Sturdy, comfortable, and waterproof hiking boots with excellent grip are absolutely essential for both you and your dog.
Accessibility: Due to the significant gradients (especially on the downs), uneven natural paths, steps in some areas, and potential for deep mud/slippery chalk, this walk is not suitable for those with significant mobility issues or standard pushchairs beyond the immediate flatter sections near car parks. It requires a good level of fitness.- Get Directions:
