- Dog Notes:
Clanger and Picket Woods in Wiltshire are an excellent and very popular place for dog walking, with plenty of space and interesting scents for dogs to explore. Dogs can often be off-lead in many areas, but ensure they have good recall and are kept under control, as wildlife (including deer) is present and other walkers use the woods. Please clean up after your dog to keep this beautiful Wiltshire woodland pristine. Bring water for your dog, especially on longer walks.
Dog Considerations:
- Leads: These woods offer a fantastic natural environment for dogs. Off-lead walking is generally possible if dogs are kept under good control, responsive to recall, and do not stray far from marked paths or disturb wildlife. Be particularly mindful during bird nesting season (spring/early summer).
- Water: Natural water sources like small streams or muddy puddles may be present, but their cleanliness is not guaranteed. It’s advisable to carry fresh water for your dog.
- Wildlife: The woods are rich in wildlife, including deer, badgers, foxes, and numerous bird species, as well as important insect life. Ensure your dog does not chase or harass wildlife.
- Dog Bins: Unlikely to be present within these natural woodlands. Please adhere to "leave no trace" principles and take all dog waste home with you.
- Hazards: Very muddy and slippery paths, tree roots, fallen branches. Less frequently walked paths can be overgrown. Ticks may be present.
