Durlston Country Park is a coastal walk just south of Swanage, with a mix of open downland, meadows, hedgerows, woodland and dramatic sea cliffs. The setting gives this route plenty of interest for dog walkers, with wide views over the sea and a good mix of more open stretches and sheltered paths. Landmarks around the park include Durlston Castle and the Great Globe, which help make this feel like more than a standard countryside walk.
This is a good option if you enjoy varied scenery, but the coastal edge means dogs should be kept close where needed and local signs should always be followed. Dogs should be kept on a lead or under very close control in this area, and there may be steps, gates or uneven sections on some paths.
Toilets and a café are available at the park. There is no dog water source currently noted, so it is worth bringing water with you, especially in warmer weather.
