Parking: There is a large, paid car park at Birches Valley Forest Centre, managed by Forestry England. Pay-and-display machines are available (coins and card usually accepted, check local signage). Parking fees contribute to the upkeep of the forest and its facilities. The car park can get very busy, especially on weekends, bank holidays, and during good weather.

Distance:
2.50 miles
Time:
1.00 hours
Difficulty:
Moderate
Terrain:

Terrain: A fantastic network of wide, well-maintained gravel tracks, narrower winding woodland trails, and some sections with more uneven, natural surfaces. The terrain is generally gently undulating, with some moderate inclines and declines, particularly if you venture onto the dedicated mountain biking trails (which walkers may use in certain sections, with caution). Expect paths to be muddy and puddly in parts, especially after rain or in wetter seasons. Sturdy, comfortable walking boots with good grip are highly recommended.

Accessibility: The main forest tracks are generally wide, firm, and relatively flat in many sections, making them suitable for most users, including those with robust pushchairs. However, many of the more exciting woodland trails are uneven, with tree roots, steeper gradients, and potential for mud, making them less suitable for those with significant mobility issues or standard pushchairs.

Facilities:
Toilets, Cafe
