There is a large pay and display car park located directly behind Newport Sands beach in Pembrokeshire (often referred to as Newport Parrog car park, though the main beach car park is on the northern side of the estuary). This provides convenient access to the beach and the coastal path. The car park can get very busy during peak season (summer, school holidays) and on sunny days. Toilet facilities and often a cafe/shop are available near the car park at this popular Pembrokeshire beach.

The terrain at Newport Sands in Pembrokeshire is primarily sandy beach, which is generally firm and easy to walk on near the water's edge at low tide but can be soft and more tiring higher up towards the dunes. The sand dunes themselves have uneven sandy paths with some steep sections. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path sections at either end of the beach will involve some clifftop paths with ascents and descents, which can be rocky and uneven. Be aware of tide times when walking on the beach itself in this Pembrokeshire location.
